Godfrey Townsend, lead guitarist
and vocalist for The John Entwistle Band comments exclusively on his
guitar rig...
"I was fortunate enough to become acquainted with Roger
Bell who has been guitar tech for Steve Vai and others for many years....he
was very helpful at showing me ways to avoid signal loss....as a result,
I started using an A/B box to send a seperate signal to my tuner instead
of running it in line....He also knew that I wasn't comfortable playing
through the Trace Elliot gear....he described it perfectly by saying
that the Trace gear was unforgiving....(much harder to get your tones
and a struggle to play through)....He agreed that the Peavey 5150
amps were much more my style and I did use them at Woodstock '99 as
Peavey was sponsoring the stage....as a result, I will probably go
back to using Peavey 5150's next time out....Roger also offered to
help me design a working rig after the tour....as it is now, I don't
use any pedals or midi devices....I mostly use one program on the
Eventide which is basically some chorus, delay and reverb... |
|
As far as my setup goes....I was using the Speed Twin
as a main head and running a send into the Eventide in stereo...I
was then coming out of the Eventide in stereo and running to the
right Bonneville head and the left Bonneville head....so, it was
a dry, uneffected stack in the middle with left and right effected
half stacks on both sides in stereo....sounds really big when it's
spread out....
I will be happy to answer any other questions or inquiries
anyone might have about equipment, playing or anything....please
forward me any future inquiries...btw, I am in the process of setting
up my own website with photos, info and music very soon...."
