As a long time fan of the Ox, it was great to see him live on stage again. I have had the fortune to see John on his first solo tour back in 1977 or 1978 in both Toronto and in Buffalo with the Strawbs, and with The Who in 1979. John sure plays a mean bass guitar and after seeing him in Kitchener he's only getting better with age.

After numerous cracks about his ex-wife, he started off his Kitchener concert with the simple question... Where the F... am I.

Then it was rock and roll at it's best.

The highlight of the night was an extended bass - drum duet that left us wanting more. John turned towards Steve Luongo and stared intently as the two showed us the magic that can happen when everything is in sync. You had to be there to enjoy it.

The set list was about the same as elsewhere and the only downfall was a very poor mix. Vocals were often lost, and although it was loud, it was sometimes hard to hear guitar and keyboard. But you sure could hear that smooth bass and pounding percussion. How does John make it look so easy? A real nice touch to the evening was the generous greeting of the fans afterward. How many people can say they shook the hand of the worlds greatest bass guitarist?

The only thing that could of been better would be a longer show, and more of his solo work. But that's just wanting it all, and leaving us waiting for more.

Keep on rockin John, we're listening.
